Lightning Lab gives a bright future to New Zealand startups!!!!!


Accelerators give startups the power to do more, faster. With seed capital, mentorship, extra hands on and the chance to focus on business 24/7, ideas quickly become solid reality. Wellington-based accelerator program Lightning Lab, launched in February, with the goal of supporting entrepreneurs within New Zealand’s startup ecosystem. The program, which funds about 10 companies each year, is a member of the Global Accelerator Network, which was founded by TechStars.

On Thursday, July 11th, 2013 at 6:30pm TriNet, High Street Partners & DLA Piper held VC Insights: When and why you should take your startup global. In today’s business world, companies are “going global” at an earlier stage than ever before. Unfortunately navigating the international waters hasn’t gotten any easier.  When and why you should take your startup global is an important consideration for every company and is driven by a range of factors including market opportunity, the right talent, cost and acquisition/IPO attractiveness.

This was a informative discussion and networking event to hear from some of the Bay Area's most respected venture investors about the rationale and timing behind a successful international strategy.
