German mobile flirting app LOVOO has quickly risen to the top of the dating app download charts in Germany and has more than 2 million registered users.  The free app for Android and iOS uses your phone’s location data to find nearby matches for you to flirt with by sending virtual kisses and gifts along with interactive games.  Now that LOVOO has dominated the mobile dating scene in Germany, the company has its sights on the much larger American market.

Hailing from Hamburg, Germany, the team behind Tadaa have built an app that on the surface offers similar functionality to Instagram (take a photo, add a filter, post it to other social networks and see what other users are posting), but adds its own tweaks which make it well worth a look if you’re a serious photo sharer.

Hardware startup Senic is big on the tech scene!!!!

New hardware startup and Y Combinator Summer 2013 cohort member Senic is launching pre-orders for its first product today, a laser rangefinder like the ones sold in hardware stores around the world and used every day by contractors and DIY enthusiasts. The difference is that Senic’s device uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with iOS and Android devices, recording measurements instantly and syncing them to the cloud.

The use of a cloud-based platform for collecting and storing measurement data, as well as Senic’s plans to expand their hardware catalog to include a number of different hardware devices, including micrometers, gauges, and other tools that builders and engineers use regularly in their work. Senic co-founder Toby Eichenwald explained that he got the idea working for his father’s company in Korea, and learned from its customers that the measurement industry was essentially “stuck in the 80s.”

Ken and Holger were both co-founders of AppCentral, a San Francisco based startup backed by BlueRun Ventures, which got acquired by Good Technology in 2012.
